population Council Vacancies in Kano, Abuja, Kwara & Kogi State


The Population Council’s involvement in Nigeria began in the 1960s when it collaborated with the Ministry of Health to implement a safe motherhood project in Calabar, a region in south-eastern Nigeria. From then until 2005, the Council undertook occasional operations research projects in Nigeria that were managed from New York, Nairobi, or the Council's regional office in Accra. In 2006, the Council established a Nigeria country office in Abuja charged with carrying out a four-year cooperative agreement with USAID (funded under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) to develop the capacity of local institutions to undertake HIV prevention programs among vulnerable youth in northern Nigeria.
Vacancies is now open for the following positions..
1. Technical Advisor - MARPs - Abuja
Qualifications: Relevant degree(s) in public health, epidemiology, applied epidemiology, social sciences, epidemiology research methods or other relevant degrees. an MPH Degree is preferred.  5 Years experience in developing and providing capacity strengthening using evidence- based approaches and 3 years of HIV and AIDS program design and management. Willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis.

2. Program Officers: Kogi (1), Kwara (1), Kano(1) and Abuja (1)
Qualifications: A minimum of Bachelor's Degree, a master degree in Health Policy, Public Administration, or Public Health is preferred. A minimum of 5 year relevant working experience in public policy, non profit management or related field.
Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint required. Ability and Willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis.

3. M&E Coordinator-Abuja
Qualifications: A minimum of Masters in Social Science, Statistics, Public Health or any related area. 5 years of Prior Experience in a similar Role. Ability to use the following statistical packages - Epi Data, STATA, and SPSS.
Ability to travel within and outside Nigeria.
